GREAT SUCCESS FOR THE FIRST DIGITAL MONTE-CARLO FASHION WEEK AN ALTERNATIVE AND SUSTAINABLE FASHION

For its eighth edition, the Monte-Carlo Fashion Week has temporarily moved to the web and inaugurated a new way of doing fashion.

It has been an extraordinary week, which has made us travel, in a virtual way, all around the world: from the United States to Dubai, from Thailand to Italy, to Monaco with the "2020 MCFW SERIES A CONVERSATION WITH ...", captivating and interactive digital live talks with the protagonists of the international fashion scene.

A virtual journey that, thanks to the designers who participated in the Sustainability Contest, went across 17 countries of the world (Japan, Kuwait, Colombia, USA, France, Italy, Monaco, Guatemala, Mexico, Hungary, Czech Republic, Tunisia, Bolivia, Madagascar, Denmark, Peru et Belgium) and made us discover more than forty brands that stand out in terms of sustainability.

Each of them has enclosed its essence and its innovative vision, in a video shot in lockdown or in the post lockdown days, spread on the social medias of Monte-Carlo Fashion Week (Instagram @montecarlofashionweek and website www.montecarlofashionweek.net) and on the YouTube channel of Fashion Channel, partner of the event.

To open the Monte-Carlo Fashion Week on May 14, the "Conversation with" Pauline Ducruet, daughter of S.A.S. Princess Stephanie of Monaco and founder of the genderless brand Alter, interviewed by Sara Maino, Head of Vogue Talents, Deputy Director of Vogue Italia, International Brand Ambassador CNMI.

Following, the talk with Tommy Hilfiger and Dee Ocleppo Hilfiger connecting live from the United States interviewed by Victoria Silvstedt.

The following days the interviews with key figures for contemporary fashion were orchestrated by Federica Nardoni Spinetta, creator of the event and President and Founder of the Chambre Monegasque de la Mode: from Alberta Ferretti to Stella Jean, from Gilberto Calzolari to Sara Cavazza Facchini by Genny , from Ingie Chalhoub, Founder and President of the Dubai Etoile Group and designer of her brand Ingie Paris, to photographers German Larkin and Vanessa von Zitzewitz, to the model and youtuber Twan Kuyper from Los Angeles.

The closure was sealed by the "Conversation with" Sara Maino, interviewed by Federica Nardoni Spinetta, and together they announced the winner of the Sustainable Contest.

The Sustainable Award has been presented to: DESSERTO from Mexico for their vegan leather produced from cactus.

The other MCFW © Fashion Awards, prestigious awards designed by the Brazilian artist Marcos Marin, and decided by the Board of the Chambre Monégasque de la Mode, were presented to:

Tommy Hilfiger - International Award

Ingie Chalhoub - Ethical Award

Ermanno Scervino - Made-In-Italy Award

Vanessa von Zitzewitz - Photography Award

APM Monaco - Fashion Accessory Award

The commitment to sustainability, ethics and awareness: these are the key themes of the eighth edition of the Monegasque fashion week which promoted an ethical and awareness approach to fashion. An international initiative that, thanks to the innovative designers and moments of reflection on issues related to sustainability, has become an important reference point for "eco" fashion.

To conclude the edition, a strong and univocal message from all participants:

#SUSTAINABLETOGETHER immortalized by a shot that reunited all the participants in one choir.

Firmly believing in social responsibility, MCFW© will support the Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation (www.fondationprincessecharlene.mc), for the fourth year in a row. The primary objective of the Foundation is to save lives by putting an end to drowning. Its missions are to raise public awareness about the dangers of water, teach children preventive measures, and teach them to swim. Sport is also a tool that contributes to the well-being and the development of children.
